Always a good time at Wishing Stones Studio and Gallery on Big Tancook Island, and how delightful to witness Rhiannon Dionne's hand cup jive! I'm looking forward to three cups next summer!

children's books 85
There are so many satisfying things about a real book that Kindles and such never give--the beauty of an embossed cover, a handwritten note inside, holding it in your hands and the feel of turning the heavy paper pages, the rips and stains and creases of a well-loved story, and waking up with one beside you ready to continue. Books definitely need to be saved, shared, and given more attention. Digital works, even ones with great stories and fun interaction, just don't have the deeply pleasing aesthetics that actual material books have. I hope kids growing up now and in the future don't miss out on this rich part of life! This old book, Mother West Wind's Neighbors, is a first edition from 1913 given to my grandmother's sister, to my mom, and then to me.
