I always thought Jeremy Brett did the best Sherlock, until Benedict Cumberbatch came along. His sharp tongue, severe impatience, and intellectual insatiability
outdoes them all, plus the twist of modernity makes the show such fast paced fun, his quick mind in pace with his gadgets. But the real beauty of the new series is the friendship between Sherlock and the best
Watson ever, (easily,) Martin Freeman. Their verbal banter is perfectly timed, their affinities and hostilities believable. What a breath of fresh life Freeman brings to the Watson character, turning the sidekick into an equal, just as intense as Sherlock but less obvious. Excellent show, can't wait for season 3.

Diggitty Grub Gets Dressed Up
So Chef Dave said he was coming up to
"chef y'all some diggitty grub"...
...which turned into an excellent feast! Ralph bought a Portuguese green wine, sweet and fizzy, and later we opened the organic cabernet sauvignon. Dave served up the amuse bouche, tomato and chipotle gouda bruschetta...
...followed by asparagus wrapped in prosciutto with a honey dijon sauce, then a baby spinach and garbanzo bean salad with red onion and pepper in a lemon and olive oil sauce.
Our main course was roasted fingerling potatoes, spaghetti squash, and New York strip steak with a portobello merlot reduction. The first round of dessert was a rhubarb compote and second was a green tea soy milk drink with cookies and cakes from Melanie's bakery at the Fairgrounds Market, Fields and French Hens: Budapest coffee cake with coffee walnut buttercream, almond chocolate chunk cookies, and Mexican chocolate espresso cake with espresso ganache.

Everything was heavenly, and Moe even gave up his semi-vegan diet to enjoy it. Thanks Chef Dave, Ralph, and Melanie!

Children's books 49.50
These two books are very funny and a tiny bit dark.
The Crocodile and the Dentist, written and illustrated by
Taro Gomi, is about an appointment both would like to cancel.
Smile for Auntie, written and illustrated by Diane Paterson,
is about all the things Auntie does to try to make
baby smile and the one thing that finally works.
